So many have tried and failed along the way leaving behind a trail of rejected frame designs and the tears of countless engineers. With the stunning variety of trails that the average mountain biker has at their disposal, the easy solution would be to tell the often-sung tale of "needing" a different bike for every type of ride. Enter the Helion. While a "normal" XC racing bike brags about steep angles and minimal suspension, the bike builders at GT know that these "optimizations" really just tune out the fun in favor of the fast. One ride on the 2015 Helion will have you realizing that you can in fact have both. Built around an FOC Ultra Carbon Frame utilizing Angle Optimized Suspension technology, the Helion Carbon frame is the height of engineering. The frame delivers 110mm of smooth suspension that walks the line between plush comfort and maximum efficiency in the way that only a Fox CTD shock and GT frame can. This is matched up to a 110mm Fox 32 Float 27.5 CTD fork for a perfectly balanced ride. Enough suspension and a stable geometry so you can blast through rock gardens and down sketchy descents with ease, but not so much that you have to lug a massive heavy bike back up the hills. The Helion Pro comes spec'd with a high end built kit so you can keep your mind on the trail and no have to worry about upgrading anything after the fact. The single ring Race Face Turbine crankset matched with Shimano's XT shifters, cassette, and rear derailleur means you have maximum simplicity without sacrificing any meaningful gear ratios. Shimano's XT hydraulic brakes and Ice Tech Rotors deliver quiet, consistent, powerful stopping power. The wheels have DT Swiss 350 hubs laced to Stan's Crest rims to bring you an insanely light weight yet durable tubeless-ready setup. Living the dream of so many other bike manufacturers, GT has done it. They've made one bike capable of riding every trail.
